The fintech was expanding into three new markets: Poland, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Each of those countries has different laws, different customs and a different relationship with money.
I was the link between all the parties. With the legal department we went through what each market required, and from that I wrote the briefs for the product team so the product would meet the new conditions. In parallel we made sure customer support was working in each new market.
The hardest part was not the logistics but the understanding. Legal and cultural differences cannot be handled by ticking boxes, because they reach into the structure of the product and into how you talk to people. Before you can take them into account, you have to understand them.
Around all that was ordinary project work: setting up processes, checking that they worked, leading the team and reviewing what it produced.
